šŸŽÆ Domain Settings: Custom DKIM Selectors & Custom Tracking Domains

Configure advanced DKIM selectors and domain-level Custom Tracking Domains by adding a CNAME record pointing to cdn.sys-gateway.com for branded open and click tracking.

The Settings tab of a domain in SkySenders allows you to configure advanced cryptographic DKIM selectors and set up a domain-level Custom Tracking Domain (CNAME) pointing to cdn.sys-gateway.com for open and click tracking.

1. Adding DKIM Selectors

DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) provides a digital signature verifying email sender authenticity. When connecting custom domains or third-party email providers, you may need to configure specific DKIM selectors:

  • Why Selectors Matter: A selector allows your domain to have multiple independent public keys for different email tools (e.g. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or SkySenders).

  • How to Configure: Click + Add DKIM Selector under the DKIM Selector section in your domain settings.

  • DNS Setup: Copy the provided selector name and public key string, and add them as a TXT or CNAME record in your DNS provider (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Route 53, etc.).

  • Verification: Click Check Status to confirm your DKIM status flips from Fail to Pass.

2. Custom Tracking Domain (Domain-Level CNAME Setup)

By default, outreach platforms use shared tracking domains to record email opens and link clicks. If other senders on a shared domain get marked as spam, your deliverability suffers. Setting up a Custom Tracking Domain isolates your brand reputation completely.

⚔ Custom Tracking URLs are configured at the Domain Level in SkySenders. All mailboxes and campaigns using this domain will automatically rewrite open pixels and click tracking redirects with your branded subdomain.

Required DNS CNAME Record

In your DNS provider (Cloudflare, Namecheap, GoDaddy, AWS Route 53, etc.), create a new CNAME record with the following exact values:

  • Record Type: CNAME

  • Host / Name: cdn (or your chosen subdomain, e.g. track)

  • Points to / Value: cdn.sys-gateway.com

  • TTL: Auto or 3600 seconds

  • Proxy Status (Cloudflare): DNS Only (Grey Cloud). Ensure Cloudflare proxying is disabled so SSL validation can complete.

ā„¹ļø Note: DNS changes can take up to 24–48 hours to propagate globally, but often take effect within a few minutes.

Step-by-Step Configuration in SkySenders

  1. Open Domain Settings: Navigate to Outreach > Infrastructure > Domains, select your domain, and click the Settings tab.

  2. Open Custom Tracking Domain Modal: Under the Custom Tracking Domain section, click Add CNAME Record (or Custom Tracking Domain) to open the setup modal.

  3. Enter Subdomain: In the Custom Tracking Domain input field, enter your full subdomain: e.g. cdn.yourdomain.com (or track.yourdomain.com).

  4. Save & Verify: Click Save, then click Verify. SkySenders checks DNS propagation and automatically provisions an on-demand SSL/HTTPS certificate.

How It Works & Deliverability Benefits

  • Branded URLs: All tracked hyperlinks in your outreach emails appear as your domain (e.g. https://cdn.yourdomain.com/c/...) rather than a third-party domain, building prospect trust.

  • Automatic SSL Provisioning: SkySenders provisions and renews free SSL certificates on-demand for your custom tracking subdomain via HTTPS.

  • Spam Filter Protection: Email spam filters (especially Google and Microsoft) heavily penalize emails containing shared tracking links with mixed reputations. A custom domain ensures your deliverability depends strictly on your own domain reputation.
